I went to the first Detroit show at the State Theater and here I will try my best to recall the interesting details of the event. I went with a friend and we arrived in time to see Billy Talent and MCR, but missed Drive By, which disappointed me. Official myspace pages had the wrong start time and it wasn't stated on the ticket itself. I ran into Cuddy, who was the only person we recognized there and he had a VIP pass. I didn't ask him how he got it, but I'll find out when he returns from touring. He's in a band called the HandMe Downs (from Detroit). Billy Talent was wonderful and I realized that I knew about five or six of their songs as they were played, as did my friend, so we were ecstatic! I met Ian after the show and told him how much I liked his music and that This Suffering is my current favorite song. He said they'd probably tour the states again this time next year, after their next album is released. He was very polite and answered all of my questions when he realized that I just wanted to talk music. I can't even imagine how much band guys get harassed by female fans, so I'll let him pass at what I suspect were his first suspicions.
MCR were absolutely wonderful live as they usually are. I watched from the pit near Frankie most of the show. A tall guy let me stand in front of him. Frankie made many 'orgasm' faces, that made me go 8 l and Mikey stood next to him, between Frankie and Gerard... I thought he might be playing nanny, which made me smile. :) They played a very long set with some new and old songs mixed in. At one point, GW said he always wanted one of the yellow caps with antennae that fans gave him, so I held up a fan that my niece had given me for Gerard. He thought it was art, or a Macbook, then realized it was a "quill for writing poetry" :) It was actually a feathered fan. I can't remember every song they played, particularly as I left the pit on occasion to check on my friend. She was fine, but needed a shot of tequila for WTTBP, which she hates. She doesn't normally drink :) She conceded that the rest of the music was ok :) I love her for going with me - a true friend :D I found 20 dollars when I checked on her once and I took this as a sign that I was doing the right thing :)
I talked to many fans after the show, but won't recount everything they said, as it's hearsay and I cannot validate it. I saw the long line for Frankie's autograph and didn't join it until I realized my tall, skinny friend was going to be eating five times in the next hour and a half. Damn that girl can eat!!!! Where does she put it? I must ask... Anyway, a rude chick in front of me made fun of everyone, including me, when I was standing right there. I challenged her about it and she proceeded to crack jokes even more obviously. A girl ran up and put her arm around me when she overheard me telling a boy that I was impressed by Frank's courage in coming out after the Detroit PR show. I turns out Frank had taken her hat! He really likes newsboy caps apparently :) I reached the front of the line and couldn't even look at Frankie - and for the record - I am not shy - at all.... I told him I was impressed that he came out last time and asked him to tell Gerard it was a fan, not a quill... at which point Frankie prob. had no clue what I was talking about and thought me demented :) which is how I felt for the record ;) Then I asked him about Leathermouth and at this point I looked at him directly :) He totally lost his composure at first then gave vague answers. He said that he didn't like to say... so I shan't tell here what he said! I did see a pale golden dog behind Frankie, but I didn't notice the owners - sorry Detroit Anon! I was pretty mortified at my awkwardness too :) Anyway, I had great fun and am only sorry they won't be touring again anytime soon.
P.S. I forgot to mention that Gerard seemed much, much more confident. I remember thinking he looked like a deer caught in the headlights early on in the Detroit PR performance and I tried to sing all the louder because he looked so scared. He also put on a Detroit accent at one point, which sounded cooler than when we speak that way. And he spoke about the non-violent atmosphere at the concert. Apparently he didn't notice the teenie behavior in the pit :) Also, Bob is Jesus! That's all I could think of every time I looked at him!

Hi Miranth, it's great to have you back again. I'm glad you had a great time at the show :)
Hey Miranth, I was right, it was you. Loved the shirt BTW. I thought you said some real nice things to Frank and my ears definately perked up when you mentioned Leathermouth. I glad I didn't spill that bit of info before you got here. I wish I would have spoke up, but it would have been too weird at that moment and I wasn't sure. Anyway, did you see the blow-up doll some girls had him sign. I was embarassed for him, poor guy.
Otis has his own Myspace, he is practically a celebrity himself.
Lucky dog.

Hi BC *hugs* - its great to be back! And thanks :)
Hi DA!
I wish you had said Hi :( It would have been cool even though i was embarrassed at the moment! The shirt didn't turn out like I hoped, so I was pretty tired, staying up most of the night fixing it. I hoped you would recognize it!
I am excited about Leathermouth too, as all of my close friends like more hardcore punk like Leathermouth, so it would be fun for all.
I did see a blow-up doll, but thought Frank would be more amused than anything, but it could have been embarrassing!
Otis is adorable! We have an Anatolian shepherd of a similar color coat. I am always surprised at how smart most dogs are if you take the time to train them. Otis was very well behaved even with the large crowd around him! He's a sweetie :)
Are you from Ohio, or you just went to the Ohio show? I'm sorry if you already answered - I didn't read all that I missed over at Mayo's :/
Take care!
Miranth, I live in Indiana now, but I lived in Toledo for ten years. I am not Otis's mom, he lives with my friend who went with me.
I feel like I should call you indiana anon, now :D Though you may always be da to everyone!
Otis is adorable in any case and would make any mom proud :)
Will you try to go to any leathermouth shows?
Miranth, I would love to see LM, but I doubt they will tour anywhere close. If they do though, I'm there.
M, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself at the concert! It must've been a great feeling watching the guys having such a great time on stage.

That's cool, da. I think they will at least try to make Detroit, or at least I hope so!
PH - It was great fun! They played a very long set and had great energy throughout. I was impressed, I must say! Meeting Frank again was cool too... I had met him after PR and thought he was very kind to speak to fans, especially as he had made it safely to his tour bus! He relieved some of my concern after that incident and invariably displays great kindness to others... which you should keep in mind when you're a guitarist in a famous rock band!
