Perspective

Do you ever notice that people are very keen to talk when they propose the subject of discourse, yet not so very disposed to listen when others like to share their interests? ---- I am not one of those people. So this is very difficult to do, though I do enjoy a challenge and I like new experiences. I am so excessively private, in fact, that I'll regale you with the minutiae of my need for privacy :) ---- Do you get the joke?

In school, whenever asked to write creatively, I had to pretend I wrote only for myself - like keeping a diary - locked tight against intrusion. Teachers would enjoy my work and ask me to share with others. I just couldn't do it. And my teachers were kind enough not to press me. Though like as not, their eyes would glitter with amusement (I felt then) as they passed to the following student, though I now realize that they understood me...just a little. They probably thought me merely shy, but trusting others with my internal vision was a sacred act, leaving my being bare for scrutiny and perhaps, derision. One's perspective on the world is vastly different from another's even if two could share the same eyes. I thought about my environment and all in it with fresh eyes and an unsullied mind, very unlike most others I knew instinctively. How I wish I could recapture the beauty that the world was to me then, even if it shone with the pearly glow of my vast naivete.

When I paint, I reexperience this freshness, as if everything is new to me again and I have no preconceptions about anything in my field of vision. Shapes, gradations, colors soothe my mind with their simplicity and I render them faithfully, finding solace in the act of capturing the external world as it is from my momentary perspective. I never feel the anxiety I do with words, which seemingly expose so much of my inner self. Yet looking back at old pictures, I realize that they convey a great deal more than I expected, still they don't hold any old terror of exposure. So with this thought uppermost in my mind, I will write again from a new perspective.

Hello (again) Miranth and welcome to official blogger status!

I got over my laziness and decided to pay you a visit. I hope you don't mind my coming over unannounced....

Ohhh....a private person, I see. That is perfectly understandable. I mean, pretty much anyone in the WORLD can read what we write here. Kind of scary, huh?

I shall try my best to refrain from asking you too many personal questions!

Hugs,
Wendy

Hi FASC!

Its ok Wendy - I'll just say if I find something too personal, but thank you ver much for the consideration :)

TJ do you mean Society for Creative Anachronism? :) I don't belong to it but I often attend renaissance fairs - in costume- and I've made friends with some of the performers over the years. I always call to wish them happy holidays and see which state they're traveling to. Much fun!

I am glad it's ok that I commented - you can also talk to us for support - all of the family are great that way. And I am like that too.

I was curious - do you know if j'observe is kapunua? I just wondered cause they seem to have similar prose styles and I read she often posts anon? Anyway - I'll comment one of the blogs to ask, if I am still curious and you don't know.

Thanks and take care

Hi Miranth. How are you today dearie? Hope you well. Thanks for visiting my blog.

yep, that's what i meant! i've done a lot of playing in the sca and your list of interests the other day seemed awfully familiar. ;)

re: j'observe, i got a different vibe off their comments. usually kapunua is pretty upfront about when she goes under a different name, and does so mostly for various games, so i think it's likey j'observe was someone else.

hope to see you around the blogs!

Hello Miranth. How are you today? Did the background link worked?

miranth said...

TJ - the sca sounds like A Lot of Fun as long as its not too serious :) Some are very serious about period fashions and whatnot. I know from the Rennies. Still its lots of fun to be in costume and/or character adn not have to be on a stage necessarily ;)

Also, I wondered about J'observe because I read that users of other sites were 'watching' us, which I found odd, in relation to the name. Also some anon kept posting under World of Warcraft names and later I realized Miranth could be taken as such - it's actually a dragon's name from the Pern books. Anyway, I digress...thank you for answering :)

BC, I haven't gotten a chance to check the link - I've barely had time to read the comments at the manor!! But thank you again and eventually I hope to write more and fix my page. I hope you're doing well? :)

Hi Miranth. How are you? Sorry if I didn't answer your hellos last night over at Mayo's. I didn't see you there. I hope you're having a great weekend. Take care.

Hi BC!

I hope you had a good day! What was that going on at Mayo's? I can only assume posers are trying to mess with our minds...

Godot only knows :)

Hello there Miranth. :)

Lol!

Yes we're both private and loquacious! That's like an oxymoron or something...certainly ironic!

Hi there Miranth. I've been enjoying reading you around in the early hours. Snap on name (phonetically) and starsign =)
Catch you around soon, I'm sure.

miranth said...

Hi pickled possum!

Thank you. Does snap on name refer to the Mira, Marie, etc thing? I'm just checking because it almost sounds like a code the way you wrote it :)I did add my starsign, just not my birth year...

Also re: the anon remark about admiring someone - it prob. could refer to a number of people. It may refer to me if the preceding anon comment about a pic being added was the same anonymous poster because I had added one the night before. However this reminds me very much of a 'secret admirer' I had growing up, who was actually my friend in disguise. She left porcelain doves and notes and perfume etc. in my mailbox. Makes me smile to remember...

Take care and I'm sure I'll see you around!

Pickled Possum said...

Thanks Miranth. No code, sorry. Same starsign, same first real name, but for me with an e instead of the i.

Siobhan's a Leo too. We're making ourselves a blog pride!

Ahh, so it does sound like you are the insomniac blogger the anon admires! Nice.

Read you around later =)
